A mid-layer shouldn’t make you choose between warmth and breathability. The Alpha Full-Zip Hoodie, built with Polartec® Alpha® Direct 90, delivers both. The high-loft fibers trap heat when you’re standing still, yet the open-mesh construction lets excess heat and moisture escape the moment you start moving. The result is a layer that keeps pace with you, whether you’re pushing through a steep ascent or waiting out a storm at camp.
The full-length YKK zipper lets you regulate temperature on the fly without removing your pack or helmet. When conditions turn harsh, the high-coverage collar and balaclava-style hood seal out wind and drafts. Altogether, this makes the Alpha Full- Zip Hoodie one of the most versatile ultralight mid-layer to have with you on your adventures.

Heat Regulating – Alpha® Direct’s open construction releases excess heat during high output and traps warmth the moment you stop, no overheating, no chill.
Warmth-to-Weight Ratio – One of the warmest mid-layers gram for gram. Packs tiny, weighs almost nothing, insulates like a 200-weight fleece.
Full-Zip Versatility – Zip down for airflow on climbs, zip up against alpine wind. Smooth-running YKK reverse zipper sits flat against skin.
Fast-Drying – The open fabric structure dries extremely fast. After a spin cycle, it comes out nearly ready to wear.
Balaclava Hood – Wraps snugly around the face with a high collar. Double-layer Alpha inside the collar adds structure and prevents sagging. A chin guard covers the zipper top for comfort.
Comfort Details – Soft internal sweatband prevents chafing. Double needle-stitched elastic wrist and waist edges lock in warmth, reduce bulk, and protect fabric from abrasion.
Advanced Fit – Precisely shaped to cut bulk and weight without restricting movement. Extra-long sleeves seal the wrists; a longer back panel keeps the lower back covered.
Made in Italy – Produced with a local manufacturer in Bergamo, just 4 km from Bonfus HQ. This allows for tight cooperation with our partner, ensuring high quality and reduced environmental footprint.

Alpha Direct is a purpose-built active insulation. Rather than relying on a face fabric to hold fibers in place, the loft is knit directly into an open mesh. This creates a fabric that insulates, breathes, and dries faster than anything in its weight class.

Care Instructions : A few simple care habits will keep this garment performing at its best for years.
Washing
• Machine wash on a gentle cycle at 30°C maximum. High heat can damage synthetic fibers and reduce their resilience.
• Use a mild detergent. Avoid fabric softeners, these coat the fibers and degrade moisture-wicking performance.
• Close the zipper before washing to prevent it from rubbing against the Alpha loft.
• Use a laundry bag to reduce microfiber release.
Drying & Storage
• Air dry is best. Alpha Direct is hydrophobic and typically dries in under 30 minutes hung or laid flat.
• Avoid tumble drying.
• For long-term storage, fold the hoodie rather than leaving it on a hanger — this prevents the knit from stretching over time.

The Science of ALPHA® Direct
Unlike traditional mid-layers with solid, “closed” fabrics, Polartec® Alpha® Direct uses an open-knit construction, high-loft thermal fibers woven into a durable mesh core, creating a layer that breathes as efficiently as it warms. During movement, the mesh vents excess heat and moisture instantly, preventing the moisture build-up of standard fleece. When you stop, the lofted fibers trap air to maintain body heat. Naturally hydrophobic, the material resists water retention, staying light when damp and drying in record time. The result is an ultralight mid-layer built with Alpha® Direct 90g, delivering superior warmth without the weight.
