Ultralight Design Philosophy: The Maxus is developed with our ultralight design philosophy, delivering a backpack that is as light as possible while capable of hauling heavy loads.
Secure and Stable Connection: The hipbelt and shoulder straps of the Maxus attach directly to the frame, allowing a secure and stable connection with superior weight transfer.
Enhanced Hipbelt Comfort and Stability: The hipbelt is crucial for a comfortable carry. The Maxus hipbelt features high-density foam, 12.5mm thick with balanced rigidity for excellent load transfer, with an additional 12.5mm foam piece in the lumbar area, totaling 25mm of padding. This thick, sturdy lumbar padding locks the pack in place, preventing slippage during heavy loads. The removable additional foam piece accommodates a wide range of body shapes. The base of the hipbelt uses UltraGrid fabric to protect the 3D mesh when placing the pack on abrasive surfaces. Two wide ladderlock buckles allow inward pulling of the hipbelt straps, and the sides connect to 2cm wide webbing that can be tensioned to stabilize the pack on the hips, preventing swinging on difficult terrain.
Adjustable Shoulder Straps: The shoulder straps can be adjusted by sliding them on the frame, allowing users to match the pack to their torso length for a superior fit, comfort, and carry stability.
High-Strength 7075 Aluminum Frame: The Maxus frame is constructed from 7075 aluminum, ensuring the highest strength and rigidity.
Extra Long Frame for Better Load Lifter Angle: The frame is 64cm long, ensuring a better load lifter angle for carrying heavy loads efficiently.
Versatile Outside Attachment Options: The Maxus features numerous outside attachment options. Each side has two compression straps with buckles, essential for compressing the pack when not fully loaded and securing items like skis, tents, and mats.
Front Attachment Loops: The front of the pack includes eight attachment loops, which can be paired with up to four Gatekeeper straps (sold separately) for added versatility and capacity, allowing for the lashing of heavy or bulky objects on the outside.
Bottom Attachment Points: The bottom of the pack has four attachment points for up to two Gatekeeper straps (sold separately) to secure a sleeping mat or tent.
Expansive Front Mesh Pocket: The front mesh pocket, made from UltraStretch fabric with folded fabric design, provides extra capacity for bulky items.
Convenient Y-Strap: The Y-strap at the roll top comes with extra-long webbing, perfect for storing and securing additional gear.
Secure Side Compression Straps: Side compression straps ensure the roll top is securely closed, maintaining a compact and streamlined profile.
Ice Axe Loop: for those icy adventures, the built-in ice axe loop ensures you’re prepared for any terrain.
Taped seams: only when choosing Ultra200 as pack material. Seam tape is applied to increase water resistance and increase seam strength. A pack liner is suggested to ensure pack content remains dry.
Storage on shoulder straps: daisy chain on shoulder straps for adding extra shoulder pouches or other gear.
Chest Strap: Chest straps with loops for lightweight hardware-free connection to the daisy chain.
Side pocket drainage: Drainage hole at each side pocket
Increased water resistance: Seam tape is applied to increase water resistance and increase seam strenght. A pack liner is suggested to ensure pack content remains dry.

Note on hip girth and pack sizing: please note that the measurements refer to hip girth at the height of the iliac crest (not waist girth, which tends to be smaller). If you plan to use the pack in winter conditions wearing bulky clothes, consider sizing up. The sizing of the pack affects only the size of the hip belt, which is removable and can therefore be exchanged.

• Ultra 200 X (130gsm | 3.85oz/sqy) – Probably the most advanced pack fabric on the market. It features woven 200D UHMWPE fibers. At a slight weight increase compared to DCF2.92, the Ultra 200 fabric has 3x higher tear strength, 3x higher UHMWPE fibers content, 7x the abrasion resistance. The backing of the fabric is a .75mil recycled polyester film and X-grid, that makes the fabric extremely waterproof. This fabric is used as main pack fabric.

• Ultra 400 X (168gsm | 4.95oz/sqy) – It features woven 400D UHMWPE fibers. The backing of the fabric is a .75mil recycled polyester film and X-grid, that makes the fabric extremely waterproof. It offers roughly twice the abrasion resistance of Ultra200 X. This fabric is therefore used in the bottom section of the pack.

• UltraGrid (146gsm | 4.3oz/sqy) – UltraGrid™ is woven with 210d recycled nylon yarn from pre-consumer industrial waste. A double 5mm 200d Ultra™ grid ripstop provides exceptional tear-strength and visual impact. UltraGrid™ is coated with C0 DWR that does not contain fluorocarbons, otherwise known as PFCs. The fabric is finished with a waterproof 1500mm PU backing. Bluesign® Approved. This fabric is used for the hipbelt, shoulder straps and side pockets

Assembly Instructions for the Maxus 80L Backpack

1- Insert the Aluminum Bars: Slide the bars into the channels on each side at the base of the pack — rubber cap last. The large curve of the bar should follow the curve of your upper back. Stop before the top channel. See included video for guidance.

2- Attach Shoulder Straps: Slide the aluminum bars into the fabric sleeves on the back of the shoulder straps. If you feel resistance, gently wiggle and “massage” the strap around the bar to help it slide in — this is normal on a new pack. The exact position depends on your torso length, but as a starting point, leave about 5 cm (2″) of aluminum bar visible below each strap.

3- Secure Bar Tips into Top Channel: Insert the tips of the aluminum bars into the top webbing channels near the load lifters. It may feel tight at first — this is normal, as the webbing is flat and stiff when the pack is new. It will gradually adapt to the bar’s shape. Pinch the webbing open with your fingers to help guide the bar in. Once inserted, only the end caps at the bottom should remain visible.

4- Connect Load Lifters & Strap Webbing: Thread the load lifters and shoulder strap webbing through the matching ladderlock buckles on the pack.

5- Attach Hipbelt Hooks: Clip the aluminum hooks at the bottom of the pack into the hipbelt loops.

6- Connect and Tighten Hipbelt-to-Shoulder Hooks: At the top sides of the hipbelt, locate the small 1.5 cm webbing straps with aluminum hooks (Bonfus logo). Attach them to the loops on the back of the shoulder straps. Hold the shoulder straps down and pull these straps firmly to create a tight, stable connection between hipbelt and shoulder straps. This prevents the hipbelt from shifting and keeps the straps from sliding upward under load.

7- Connect Side Stabilizers: Clip the side stabilizer straps of the hipbelt to the ladderlocks on the pack. These reduce lateral movement and pull the weight closer to your lumbar area for better stability and comfort.
